Dr. Jannie Wei has been teaching the violin for more than 10 years. She holds a Doctorate in violin performance with an emphasis in pedagogy from the University of Oregon, a Master’s in violin performance from the Peabody Institute and a B.M. in violin performance from the Mannes College of Music. Ms. Wei is a certified Suzuki instructor and has experience teaching beginner to advanced students. Her current students are active participants in the Eugene-Springfield Youth Orchestras and public school orchestras. Ms. Wei has a special interest in teaching adult beginners and is currently developing her own method based on her dissertation, in which the approach to learning music is tailored to the individual needs and interests of each student.
Ms. Wei is also a member of the Delgani Street Quartet and Eugene Symphony Orchestra. As a performer, she can be heard in concerts and recitals throughout the Willamette Valley as well as nationally and internationally. She recently received a government grant to perform in Taiwan and participated in the Shippensburg Festival Orchestra in Pennsylvania. Ms. Wei is currently on the faculty of the Community Music Institute at the University of Oregon.
